FAQ
Cosa significa "matrimonio" per Retrouvaille?
In Retrouvaille, "marriage" refers to a covenant-based relationship between one man and one woman.
Who is Retrouvaille for?
Retrouvaille is designed for couples who want to improve their marriages. It can support couples experiencing serious challenges, as well as couples who simply want to deepen an already good relationship. The only requirement is a shared commitment to working on the marriage, with both spouses attending the program together.
What does the program cost?
Costs vary by location. A non-refundable registration fee is due at signup to reserve your spot, with the remaining balance due at the end of your weekend. Follow-up sessions and ongoing monthly support meetings are included at no additional charge.
How is our privacy protected?
We take privacy very seriously. Retrouvaille never shares attendees' names with outside individuals or organizations. Only first names are used throughout the weekend, and any further sharing is entirely up to you.
Will we have to share our personal issues in front of others?
No, sharing personal issues publicly is not required. There are no group discussions during the weekend; everything is between you and your spouse.
What if one of us feels we’re no longer "in love"?
When people feel they’re "not in love," it often means they've lost the initial romantic spark. Retrouvaille can help you move toward a deeper, more enduring love that grows over time.
I want to attend Retrouvaille, but my spouse doesn’t. What can I do?
Encourage your spouse by explaining that there’s nothing to lose — only potential gain. You might print information from the website or connect with a local registration couple for more ideas. The program is designed for both spouses to attend together.
Will Retrouvaille save our marriage?
Only you and your spouse can ultimately save your marriage. Retrouvaille offers tools and guidance to help you reconnect. Arriving with an open mind and heart can make a big difference. All volunteers are couples who have benefited from the program themselves.
Do we have to attend the closest location?
It’s recommended that you attend a nearby session but not required. The Post-Weekend Sessions are more convenient if you attend locally. You can travel to a weekend and then attend Post Sessions locally or on-line if necessary.
Is child care provided during Retrouvaille?
We can’t provide child care during the weekends, but a few locations offer child care during post sessions or monthly support meetings.
Can we bring our children if we arrange a babysitter?
We encourage finding alternate childcare, as the weekend is meant to be an undistracted time for you and your spouse to focus on each other.
Will there be marriage counselors available?
Retrouvaille does not provide professional counselors. If you feel the need for counseling, many communities have lists of local professionals. The program can work well alongside personal counseling.
Is there someone we can talk to before deciding?
Yes, each community has a Registration Couple who can answer questions and provide additional information. Contact details are available on the Retrouvaille website.
We’ve registered for a Retrouvaille Weekend. What’s next?
After registration, a couple from the community will contact you to provide more details and answer any questions.
Will language be a barrier?
If you’re comfortable understanding English-language media, you should be fine. Some locations offer sessions in Spanish or other languages depending on the area.
Are there religious services during the Retrouvaille Weekend?
There are religious services on Saturday morning and Sunday afternoon. Participation is entirely optional.
We’re not religious. Will this be an issue?
Not at all. Religious services are voluntary and don’t impact the program’s overall experience.
How do we move forward when one of us cannot forgive?
During the weekend, you’ll learn that healing is possible as long as both spouses are committed and put in the effort. Many couples come out of Retrouvaille stronger than before.
We tried Marriage Encounter, but it didn’t help. How is Retrouvaille different?
Marriage Encounter helps make good marriages better. Retrouvaille was developed by Marriage Encounter couples to address more difficult marital challenges, focusing on healing and renewal.
